BMW Set To Reintroduce The Isetta

After micros such as the Smart and the Fiat 500, BMW is considering bringing back the Isetta.The original Isetta was powered by a rear-mounted motorcycle engine that delivered about 12 horsepower. On the original model the only door was its swing-away nose panel.

The modern Isetta, unlike the original, will have four wheels and two doors on the sides. Also the new Isetta will retain the egg-shaped silhouette of the original. At the moment, redesign is in the earliest stages, BMW may not make a decision on it until 2010. The new Isetta would be powered by a clean engine that would be the most ecological BMW.

One of the most successful microcars ever produced, wich was also known as a bubble car because of the bubble-like windows and an egg shape.

Mini

The Mini is a small car that was produced by the BMC from 1959 to 2000. The most popular British-made car ever. It has been replaced by the New MINI, which was launched in 2001. The 2007 Cooper is a 4-passenger family coupe, sports coupe, convertible, or convertible sports car, available in 4 trims, ranging from the HT to the S Convertible.

Volkswagen Beetle

Produced by the Volkswagen from 1938 until 2003. One of the most popular car ever made.
New Beetle, introduced in 1998, carried many "retro" design features related to the old Beetle. Original Beetle's round ed shape, running boards, separate wings, large round tail lights. It is a modern car, based on the Volkswagen A platform.

Fiat 500

The Fiat 500, car produced by the Fiat company between 1957 and 1975. As beeing considered as one of the first city cars. New Fiat 500 was presented in March 2007 exactly 50 years after the first Fiat 500 has been presented. The car has retro-look as well as the Volkswagen New Beetle and BMW MINI but it is cheaper than those cars.

The Million Mile Car

No other car has a heritage quite like G178 SGO, a 1990 BMW 325iS automatic built for the North American market. Happenstance dictated that it ended up as part of Mobil's research and development fleet, whereupon it spent four years on a rolling road, running around the clock at 45 to 85mph and pausing only for routine maintenance and synthetic oil changes every 6,000 miles.

We sometimes hear of antique cars that have covered 450,000 miles on their speedometer representing some kind of durability record, but this BMW was retained in captivity until it had been around the clock 10 times. It is a genuine 1,039,491-mile car, although the first million were covered in laboratory conditions.

Once its task was fulfilled, the car was stripped down (engine wear was found to be relatively light) before being reassembled and dispatched to work as a promotional vehicle in the US and Europe. Its recent history is a little blurred, but a trip to the scrapyard seemed imminent until Mobil rediscovered the car in Edinburgh, where it had spent a few years on a dealership forecourt. It has since been recommissioned and returned to active service… albeit in a real world contaminated by speed cushions.

Mum-To-Be Mowed Down By BMW Coupe Driver

A MUM-TO-BE and her unborn child died when a BMW mowed her down on a pavement.

Horrified medics rushed Anne Marie McCreadie to hospital where doctors battled in vain to save their lives.

Last night, the BMW driver was being held on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He was arrested on the spot after his coupé mounted the pavement in Penrith, Cumbria, where 29-year-old Anne Marie was walking with her husband and a pal.

The husband was being comforted by relatives last night.

I'm going to watch this case in the future and see what happens here. This 'person' who was driving the car might have a valid excuse for what happened, maybe he/she has a medical condition and something went wrong etc etc.

Maybe the driver was..........

Let's not speculate.

What I am keen to see is a fair sentence given out for the crime committed on Britain's roads. All too often we see drivers killing pedestrians and then being given sentences like 1 year or 18 months in jail for the taking of a life.

I know it can't possibly be classed as murder, that is just ridiculous, but when a driver is at fault and that fault could have been addressed then they are negligent to the point of committing manslaughter through being wreckless.

People driving with no insurance or under the influence of drugs or drink infuriate me the most. Obviously I'm not inferring this particular driver is guilty of that, but when people are found to over the limits, they walk away with a fine and a slapped wrist.

If someone causes a death by driving in a manner which helped to cause the death, then they should be looking at 7-10 years in prison.

This will act as a wake up call to everyone, myself included, that we need to be much more careful than we already are.

A car is just one big metallic killing machine if we don't respect it and look after it !!
